Our Story
At The Old Courthouse, we pride ourselves on our rich history and welcoming atmosphere. Established in the heart of the community, our pub offers a glimpse into the past while serving home cooked British cuisine.
The Old Court House, is a traditional thatched country Inn, family owned and managed. The building is steeped in history, the front part of the ‘T’ shaped building dates from 1633 or earlier and was at that time if not previously a local Court. The original Charles 1 ‘Coat of Arms’, original and sympathetically restored remains. At around seven feet square this plaque can properly be described as ‘spectacular’, the Coat of Arms is now to be found in its original location, currently one of our Bed and Breakfast Room’s.
The Inn has a traditional bar area, serving a good range of Cask (CAMRA Good Beer Guide) and Keg Ales and Ciders, Traditional Home cooked food is available (‘Scores on Doors’ 5 STAR) Food can be served in the Bar, Separate Dining Room or Garden. Children and Dogs with well behaved owners are welcome!
The Inn provides facilities for traditional Pub Games, including Skittles (separate Skittle Alley/Function Room), Darts, Karem, Table Skittles, Shove H’Penny, Shut the Box or you can always join in a K’Nobble for a Round of Drinks!
